Youth Worker Position,
2010-2011
St.
John's United Church, Elmvale is actively looking for a person to
fulfill the position of Youth Worker.
Job Description:
Title: Youth Worker
Hours: 7 hours per week
Length of Contract: August 2010 to June 2011 (with
possibility for renewal)
Responsible to:
Education Committee, Ministry and Personnel Committee, and the
minister.
Goals:
1. To provide a group setting where young people can relate to the
Christian community
2. Initially, this group will meet on a bi-weekly basis and involve
youth ages 11-14.
Position Description:
1. To familiarize oneself with the congregation's youth through
congregational lists and conversation
2. Organize, advertise, and be key leader for youth events
3. Develop a plan of communication for the group i.e.: online,
telephone, in person
4. Recruit and coordinate adult volunteers
Remuneration:
$15.00 per hour
Criteria for position:
1. Demonstrate a strong belief in God and Jesus Christ
2. Vibrant self starter
3. Previous experience working with youth considered an asset
4. Patience and understanding
5. Ability to network with the Education Committee, congregation and
minister
Two references will be required at the time of the interview.
