CAMP SIMPRESCA NEEDS YOUR HELP
Camp
Simpresca is an important youth ministry within Northern Waters
Presbytery and it needs help from all of us.
Camp Simpresca is located on the wooded shores of Georgian Bay just
north of Midland. It has been a very important camp to the youth of
the previous Simcoe Presbytery and we hope that it will continue to
mean as much for the youth of Northern Waters Presbytery.
As the camp reaches its 61st birthday, it has become quite urgent
that we update and improve some aspects of the camp facilities. This
is difficult to do due to our current budget restraints. This year,
the number of campers has decreased due to the recent economic down
turn, and the fact that this has been the camp’s first year in a new
presbytery so many families may not be aware that we are here. This
makes our operational budget tight, and our budget for facility
upgrades even tighter.
Some of the improvements that are needed:
1. Installation of a land phone line at the beach area in case of an
emergency. This is a faster and more reliable way of getting help
than using cell phones.
2. Replacement of outdated smoke detectors in the cabins.
3. Installation of hand dryers in the washrooms, which are a
healthier method of drying hands than using paper towels and also
prevent a very messy washroom floor.
HOW YOU CAN HELP!
You can sponsor the camp director of the board when he runs in the
SCOTIABANK TORONTO WATERFRONT MARATHON on September 26, 2010.
100% of all donations pledged in support of Paul will go directly to
Camp Simpresca.
Just think - if 5 people in each of our 56 Pastoral charges
pledged $25.00 we could raise $7000.00!
