On behalf the congregation at
St. John's, I warmly welcome you to our church web page. I trust
the information we provide will be of help to you. In his book Why Christian,
Douglas Hall writes, 'There is no such thing as the 'perfect'
church, and those who go about looking for such an ideal are
going to be sorely disappointed.' The Christian gospel, Hall
says, is not about the perfect church, it's about the perfect
love of God which none of us deserves and from which we all fall
short.
Hall sums up very well my own
thoughts regarding church. For me, the realization that we are
not perfect allows a marvellous opportunity to learn and grow as
people of faith. Here at St. John's, we accomplish this through
various activities and ministries.
Ursula LaGuin once wrote,
'It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the
journey that matters in the end.' We encourage and invite you to
join us on the journey.
If you are weary and need rest;
in sorrow and need comfort; strong and need a task; confused and
seek counsel; lost and need to be found ... St. John's opens
wide its heart's doors and in the name of Jesus Christ says,
'WELCOME!' |
